This technical note provides a methodological outline for the results shown in Chapter 9 of "De Paradox van Ongelijkheid in België" (FR: "Le paradoxe des inégalités en Belgique). In Section 2, we discuss the data used for the analysis in Chapter 9. Thereafter, Section 3 presents the methodology that was followed, as well as the resulting output. Some important concepts are first discussed in Sections 3.1 and Section 3.2. Next, 3.3 shows how the series of relative price levels are constructed. In 3.4, the computation of the distribution of expenditure shares and savings rates is explained. Thereafter, in 3.5, the analysis of inflation rates across the expenditure distribution is presented. Lastly, the impact of heterogenous inflation on inequality of real consumption is discussed in 3.6.
